Meals
on Wheels

Madison County Hospital and LifeCare Alliance have partnered to
provide Meals on Wheels service throughout Madison County. The
Meals-on-Wheels program provides home-delivered meals for people
over the age of 60 who are unable to prepare hot nutritious meals
for themselves. Volunteers deliver meals Monday through Friday.
Those who qualify for the program may choose to enroll in the
home-delivered meal program, or dine at congregate sites in South
Solon, West Jefferson or Mount Sterling.

Consumer Health Library
& Cancer Resorce Center

The Consumer Health Library and Cancer Resource Center encompasses
a broad spectrum of information for the public. The center allows
residents to look up information about health issues on their
own, or with assistance. The center is equipped with a computer
complete with Internet access and a printer to download and print
information. There is also a video library with a television and
videocassette recorder allowing visitors to watch informational
videos at the center. In addition, the center has a library of
reading materials on a variety of health-related topics.
Coping with Cancer

The Coping with Cancer Support Group was designed to bring cancer
patients and survivors together, regardless of the type of cancer
they experienced. Coping with Cancer meets at 6 p.m. the second
Monday of every month, September through November and January
through May, in the Harley Room at Madison County Hospital. Everyone
whose life has been touched by cancer is invited to attend.
Join the group each month for dinner and guest speakers on a variety
of topics related to cancer and wellness. The meetings are a time
to learn, relax and enjoy the company of peers who can relate
to your cancer journey.
There is no charge for participation, but reservations are requested.

Pant & Puffers

Pant & Puffers, a support group for people living with
lung or heart disease, meets the fourth Wednesday of each month
September through May in the Harley Room at Madison County Hospital.
New participants are always welcome. Meetings give members an
opportunity to gather and talk about current events, listen to
a variety of speakers and enjoy a meal with friends.
Preparing for Childbirth

Whether you are expecting your first child or welcoming a new
addition, our prenatal clinic can help with "Preparing for Childbirth."
This class will ease your concerns and answers regarding labor,
delivery and new baby care. The classes are in a series of two
Saturday mornings, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Park Avenue

Parent Education

It is no secret that parenting is one of life's greatest
challenges. At Madison County Hospital, we want to help you
become
more effective parents. With the help of grants, Parent Education
courses are available at no charge to area parents on an individual
basis, or as a group. Parent Education helps parents learn
techniques
and strategies to raise responsible, healthy children. Courses
are available 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening appointments are
available
upon request, and home visits are made if necessary.

Madison County Hospital offers Youth Services through the Hospital’s
Community Education and Prevention Department. These services
include:

• Drug and Alcohol Addiction

Project TOP
Project TOP, Time Out for Prevention, focuses on preschool
and primary school-aged children. Project TOP address issues
like
abstaining from the use of alcohol, tobacco and drugs, safety,
self-esteem, and understanding different emotions and how to
deal
with them.
Support Groups
Sometimes school children need to talk about their
problems or fears. The Madison County Hospital Community Education
Department
offers Support Groups for students addressing a wide range
of issues: smoking cessation, loss/grief counseling, self-esteem,
peer relations and other topics as requested by school administration.
These support groups are available to any student. Parents
may
request their child be placed in a specific group.
Help Me Grow

Help Me Grow is an early intervention program for children
ages birth to 3 years-of-age aimed at identifying developmental
needs
and connecting these children with the appropriate community
services. Services are designed with your family's concerns
and goals in
mind.
